About Long-Sharp Gallery

Long-Sharp Gallery

Long-Sharp Gallery, the newest extension of ModernMasters Fine Art, has made its permanent home in the Conrad Indianapolis luxury hotel. The gallery features works from Picasso to Pop, with a primary focus on works by some of the best known names in modern and contemporary art, including: Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, John (Crash) Matos, Russell Young, and William John Kennedy.

This is another step in the business relationship between ModernMasters’ owner Rhonda Long-Sharp and Conrad Indianapolis. For the past year, Long-Sharp, a former longtime Indianapolis-based death row attorney, has directed an innovative and award winning art program at the Indianapolis luxury hotel.  As part of  A Fine Art Experience at the Conrad Long-Sharp curates exhibits throughout the hotel’s public spaces.  These exhibits include an important Picasso exhibit (on display through October 14 2012) which has been reported in numerous media outlets including the Washington Post, Atlanta Journal, and CBS News.

“This next step is one taken with great confidence in the relationship between our great brands.  We remain very proud of the Fine Art Experience at Conrad and all that it does to drive regional, national and international awareness to Conrad and our wonderful community.  When the bar is elevated as high as we keep it, we must continually challenge ourselves to provide a differentiating, vibrant and contemporary experience.” Greg Tinsley, General Manager of Conrad Indianapolis.

The Conrad and Long-Sharp interact in yet another way.  In early 2010, Long-Sharp opened “Indy Contemporary” to highlight the works of noted contemporary artists with studios in Indiana (Constance Edwards Scopelitis, Lois Main Templeton, Walter Knabe, and Dale Enochs). ModernMasters has exhibited works by four Indiana-based artists alongside those of Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso at several art venues throughout the United States. Since the Conrad launched its art program three of the four Indy Contemporary artists have had solo exhibits at Conrad Indianapolis and the Conrad has hosted receptions in their honor.

Since opening in 2005, ModernMasters Fine Art has established an enviable reputation in the international print market, selling to private collectors, dealers, galleries, corporations and museums worldwide. Long-Sharp works directly with the foundations and archives of artists such as Haring and Dali to ensure that all works are authentic. ModernMasters features and maintains a 100% owned inventory of approximately 500 master works. Works exhibited at Long -Sharp Gallery will be selected from this inventory. Long-Sharp is also a recognized IFAA (International Fine Art Appraisers) fine art appraiser.

The newest Indianapolis gallery has selected the city’s oldest framer, Frame Designs (Broadripple and Carmel), to serve as the exclusive framer for all of the works exhibited. As fine art collectors, Rhonda Long-Sharp and husband Dr. Scott Sharp have patronized Frame Designs and its sister company Editions Limited Gallery for almost 2 decades.  Since opening ModernMasters, Long-Sharp has used Frame Designs’ services to frame hundreds upon hundreds of works by Picasso, Warhol, and others.  With the opening of Long-Sharp Gallery, that relationship will be strengthened further.

Long-Sharp Gallery is accessible from The Conrad Lobby and from its separate entrance on Illinois Street. Long-Sharp Gallery is accessible to guests of Conrad Indianapolis 24/7.
